In the absence of rituals and ceremonies, a house merely
remains a brick-and-mortar structure and not a home.
Rituals and ceremonies are the essence of ancient wisdom,
with a following that's been around for centuries. Since
Vaastu also forms the subject matter of ancient wisdom, it
subscribes to a few ceremonies.
'Bhoomi Pujan' - which is done prior to the commencement
of construction work - tops the list. The second is the 'Neev
Ceremony' done at the time of laying the foundation. The
third comes at a time when the front door is being fixed.
This is an important aspect of construction and one should
find an auspicious date/time to figure out when the door
should be fixed.
Another ceremony of note is the house warming ceremony
that serves two purposes - one is to seek the blessings of
the 'Vaastu Purusha' and the other is to share your
happiness with well wishers. This is the time when your
house needs protection from the evil eye, especially of
the near and dear ones who might be jealous of your growth
and success. Such feelings have no logical or scientific
explanations. Try to nip it in the bud by sprinkling Ganga
jal along the four directions. In the absence of such
rituals, a house remains a mere brick-and-mortar structure
and not a home.
Moreover, one should never move into an incomplete house.
It is said that such houses may be under the influence of
negative vibrations, often referred to as evil spirits. If
a family decides to move into such a house, they would
find it difficult to prosper; they would also find that
there are quarrels between family members. There's also a
fear that however much you earn, in such a house it would
only result in wastage. Thus, it's more advisable to move
into a rented accommodation. Only on completion should you
move into a property.
