Taittriya Braahmanam (Sri
Krishna Yajur Veda) Contains in Third Ashtakam, 7th, 8th
and 9th Prasnams, meant for Parayana during
Ekadasi-Dwadasi. There is a Patayana samithi
exclusively for Achidram, Aswamedham and Kadakam. On Ekadasi and Dwadasi days as recommended by our Acharyas.
This tradition of chanting these Vedic Texts is an
ancient one.
Achidram means
faultless or blemish less and this portion of the Vedas
has very significant important mantras relating to Soma
Yagya and Prayascchittha mantras for the atonement of
sins through mere chanting of this portion of the Vedic
text.
Aswamadham is connected
with an ancient Yaj~nam performed for the WELL BEING OF
The world and for unity amongst people. Lord
Ramachandra and Chatur Mukha Brahma (at Kanchi)
have performed this Yaj~nam with the help of the
Aswamedha. Veda
mantras. The subhiksham or the well-being of the people
at large is sought as a goal. The recitation of
these mantras is considered as having the same effect as
the performance of the long and complex yaj~nam. At
various centres even today regularly the Achidra,
Aswamedha and Kadakam Parayana is being done the Ekadasi
and Ewadasi Days. These Vedic chantings have a
mesmerizing effect on the mind.
